Southern Regional Technical College (initially referred to as Southwest Georgia
Technical College or Moultrie Technical College) is a unit of the Technical
College System of Georgia, United States of America (TCSG) and provides
education services for a seven county
service area in southwest Georgia, USA. The school's service area consists: Thomas, Tift, Colquitt, Worth,
Turner, Grady and Mitchell counties.
Southern Regional Technical College is
accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools to award Technical Certificates of Credit, Diplomas and
associate degrees. A lot of the school's
individual technical programs are also approved by their respective
accreditation organizations.
Southern Regional
Technical College main campus is situated
in Thomasville, Georgia; with other locations in Colquitt, Mitchell, Grady,
Turner, Tift and Worth counties.
NURSING
The Associate of Science
in nursing training program helps Southern Regional Technical College’s
commitment to serve the surrounding
regions, the state of Georgia and the southeast region. The A.S.
nursing program welcomes the challenge to respond to societal health-care needs
by offering 2 alternatives leading to the
associate of science in nursing: the Generic Alternative and the L.P.N.-A.S.N.
Bridge Alternative.
The A.S.N. program is
built to prepare pupils as entry-level professionals to provide safe, efficient
nursing care and also promote healthy transitions for culturally diverse
clients in various functions. The program builds up critical thinking,
integrates accumulated knowledge from nursing, and emphasizes the values of
caring, responsibility, accountability and professional ethics. The Associate
science in nursing program has been awarded approval by the Georgia Board of
Nursing as well as accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in
Nursing.
Upon successful completion
of all training program specifications including passage of a standardized
final exit exam, the pupil will be awarded an Associate of Science in Nursing
and will be qualified to submit application
to the Georgia Board of nursing to register for NCLEX-RN licensure exam.
Student Learning Outcomes:

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing
Program. Minimum admission standards
include:
Prerequisite
Courses open; however, all prerequisite/Competitive Admissions courses (which
are listed as follows) must be successfully
completed prior to competitive
program admission. Entry into this program is based on competitive admissions
criteria
1. BIOL 2113 – Anatomy and
Physiology I,
2. BIOL 2113L – Anatomy and
Physiology I Lab,
3. BIOL 2114 – Anatomy and
Physiology II,
4. BIOL 2114L – Anatomy and
Physiology II Lab,
5. ENGL 1101 – Composition &
Rhetoric,
6. MATH 1111 – College Algebra.
7. Students will not be eligible to
apply for admission to the Generic A.S.N. program if they have failed out of
any A.S.N., A.D.N., or B.S.N. program at another institution. Students will be considered for admission to the Generic
A.S.N. program five (5) years after the last nursing course failure. However,
the student who completes a P.N. program does not have to wait five (5) years
before applying for the L.P.N. Bridge Option.
8. Applicant must be 18 years of age
or older prior to first clinical course.
9. An applicant must be a high
school graduate or the equivalent (GED). College transcripts will be evaluated
on an individual basis. All pre-requisite and co-requisite courses in math and
science must have been taken within five (5) years of program start/re-entry
date.
1. All materials to be considered
for the Spring Generic Option must be completed by the end of summer semester.
All materials to be considered for the Fall Generic Option must be completed by
the end of spring semester.
