West Georgia Technical College is a unit
of the Technical College System of Georgia ( TCSG ) providing education for a 7 county service region that includes : Carroll
, Coweta , Douglas , Heard , Haralson , Meriwether , and Troup . West
Georgia Technical College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award technical
certificates of credit, diplomas and with associate degrees being the highest
level of honor for which the College has been accredited.
Campuses are situated in Carrollton, Newnan, Douglasville and Waco, Georgia, USA, respectively. These campuses were formerly part of West Central Technical College (WCTC), located in Waco. However, the name of the Troup campus in LaGrange was maintained in the 2009 merger, among the list of mergers in the TCSG. Heard and Meriwether regions do not have full campuses but do have places where classes are held.
NURSING
The ADN training program in West Georgia Technical College is built to provide nursing courses that when successfully completed awards graduates an Associate Degree in Nursing. Graduates are then qualified to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN and also licensure by the Georgia Board of Nursing, graduates are employable as registered nurses (RN).
NOTE : Based on the position statement of the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing ( NOADN ) 2006 , Associate degree of nursing graduates are recognized as essential members of the interdisciplinary health-care team in diverse health-care settings . The ADN faculty is devoted to the NOADN tenants of advocacy, professional involvement, life-long learning and leadership as well as to this end the College supports student participation and also involvement in the learning environment.
The West Georgia Technical College Associate Degree Nursing Training program has full endorsement by the Georgia Board of Nursing as well as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing
Program. Minimum admission standards
include:
1.
Complete and submit application for admission with a one-time non-refundable
$25 fee.
2.
Applicants must be 16 years of age or
older for college admission. The minimum age for admission in certain programs
is greater than 16 years of age.
3.
Submit an official high school or GED transcript.
4.
Submit SAT or ACT scores that meet the
TCSG minimum requirements.
5.
If you have previously attended college/technical school, submit an
official transcript from each college/technical school attended.
6.
If you have taken a SAT, ACT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER college placement
test within the last five (5) years, submit your official test scores.
7.
Complete ACCUPLACER placement testing. Applicants who submit official
placement test scores or college transcripts may not be required to test with
WGTC if the previous test scores or course completion meet program placement
requirements.
8.
Submit Resident Alien Card
(if applicable). Applicants who hold green cards or who qualify under
refugee or asylum status must submit photocopies of their resident alien cards.
